About this site
Are all local schools and colleges and training providers included on this site?
Almost all:
· All local comprehensives.
· All local sixth form colleges and further education (FE) colleges, including some FE colleges just out of our area.
· Some special schools – others only accept applications for students to move into them in special circumstances so have chosen not to be represented.
· Some local independent schools – others chose not to be represented. The ‘provider profiles’ tell you which schools are independent. These schools charge fees; you need to contact them to get more details.
· Most work-based training providers – some do not know this far ahead whether they will have apprenticeship vacancies next year so have not joined us yet.
I’ve heard A levels are changing in 2008. Does this mean subjects on offer will change?
The curriculum for each A level, and the design of A levels, will change from September 2008. In autumn 2007 schools and colleges are still deciding about exactly which courses, from which awarding bodies, they will offer in 2008. We hope to have their final decisions by the end of November 2007.
If you are looking at the site before then, it’s possible there will be changes. However most schools and colleges will be offering the same subjects in 2008, but possibly with some changes in the curriculum and awarding body. Check back here a bit later on, and check the dates of open days or evenings at the places you are considering.
I’m looking for an apprenticeship. Some of the work-based learning providers have got addresses in other parts of the country. Will they have apprenticeships round here?
Some apprenticeships are offered by organisations that can have vacancies all over England. The address they’ve given on this site is the one you need to apply to. They will let you know about employers in Cambridgeshire or Peterborough where you could train.
How can I be sure the information is up to date?
We are working hard to make sure everything is up to date. Schools, colleges and providers update their own information, so if there’s anything you are not sure about contact them. Use the Feedback section on this website if you’ve got general queries about the information.
You could be looking at Coursefinder a year or two before you want to start a new course. Courses available, and apprenticeships, change from year to year so check back nearer the time you need to apply.
Who organises this site?
Cambridgeshire County Council, Peterborough City Council and the Learning and Skills Council for Cambridgeshire and Peterborough have worked together with local schools, colleges and training providers to bring together all the information. The Connexions Information Team look after the site and work to ensure that it’s as good as possible. Use the Feedback section to let us have your comments and suggestions.
