Cambridge Area
The Cambridge Area 14 – 19 Partnership (formerly the Collegiate Board) runs a formal application system for people who live in this area, or people wanting to apply to schools and colleges here. Where there are more applicants than places, preference is given to students from the Cambridge area.
How do I apply?
There is one application form that covers all the post-16 centres in the Cambridge area. You can get an application form from your careers co-ordinator or from the admissions contact at your first choice centre.
Go along to open days/evenings to find out more about the courses and centres. You can look on Cousefinder to find out when these are by using the 'Events & Open Days' link at the top of each page.
Once you are sure, complete your application form. Make sure you and your parents/carers sign your application, before handing it back to your school/college careers co-ordinator. They will then send your application to your first choice centre.
Is there a deadline?
There is a closing date for applications; your application should reach your first choice centre by the Friday before February half term. Your school/college will ask for your application in sooner, so that references can be completed.
What happens next?
Your first choice centre will call you for an interview; your parents/carers can go along with you too.
What happens if I don’t get my first choice?
If you are not successful with your first choice, your other choices will be considered in turn until a suitable course is found.
When will I know if I’ve been accepted?
You will normally receive an offer of a place by the end of the first week in May. The offer may be conditional on you achieving certain grades in your GCSEs or other exams.
What if I change my mind?
Ideas do change and some people will want to change their course choices. First talk to your careers co-ordinator or form tutor; they will advise you.
Your personal adviser can help you consider your new ideas and options. You can make an appointment with them through your school or college.
What if I don’t meet the conditions of my offer?
Contact your post-16 centre immediately; they will help and advise you.

Team Peterborough
Team Peterborough is the name given to the partnership working that is going on across our city. Using this prospectus you can find out about courses that are being offered in all the schools and colleges in our area. If you are considering transferring to another centre for your further education, after GCSEs, this will help you to choose the centre that is right for you. A lot of young people prefer to remain in the school that they are familiar with but they also have very specific ambitions.
In Peterborough there will be a common framework that will allow you to choose subjects that are not available in your base school, but can be studied in other schools or colleges. Your school will show you this framework. It will be online later in the year. This is an exciting opportunity for those of you who have a clear idea of what you need to study in order to achieve your goals.
What will you need to do if you want to take advantage of this?
· Firstly, talk to your advisers [teachers/parents/carers/Connexions Adviser/Post-16 Manager] who will be able to guide you.
· Check the framework to see where in the week the course is offered to make sure it fits with your other choices.
· You will need to contact the provider to tell them you wish to apply for a course as part of the Team Peterborough initiative. They will ask you for some details including what other subjects you intend to study and where your base centre will be. They will want to meet you to check that the course is right for you and they will negotiate with your base provider to make sure everyone is happy with arrangements.
